Privacy & Cookie Policy
Last updated: 30 July 2026
This website is a personal, non-commercial CV and portfolio page. It has no login, no contact form, no newsletter and no advertising. The only data processed beyond what every web server necessarily receives is anonymous, aggregated visit statistics.
1. Who is responsible
Controller: Dr. Diego Calvo Ruiz
Zurich, Switzerland
Email: diegocalvoruiz@engineer.com
For any question about this policy or your data, email is the fastest route. As a private individual acting outside any commercial activity, no Data Protection Officer is appointed.
2. What data is processed
Server log data
Like any website, this page is delivered by a hosting provider that automatically records technical request data: IP address, date and time, requested file, referring page, browser and operating system. These logs exist to deliver the site securely and to detect abuse, and are kept only for as long as the hosting provider's standard log retention allows.
Analytics (Google Analytics 4)
This site uses Google Analytics 4 (measurement ID G-XMF2CVVLE7) to understand, in aggregate, how many people visit and which sections they read. Google Analytics sets cookies in your browser and collects pseudonymised data such as pages viewed, approximate location (country/region, derived from a truncated IP address), device type, browser language and referral source.
Google Analytics 4 does not log or store full IP addresses; IP addresses are truncated before any data is written. No advertising features, no Google Signals, no demographic reporting and no data sharing with Google for advertising purposes are enabled on this property. The statistics are never used to identify individual visitors, and the data is not combined with any other source, sold or passed to third parties.
Cookies used
| Cookie | Purpose | Lifetime |
|---|---|---|
_ga | Distinguishes one browser from another so that repeat visits are not double-counted (Google Analytics) | 2 years |
_ga_XMF2CVVLE7 | Maintains the session state for this specific Analytics property | 2 years |
ga-optout | Set only if you use the opt-out button below; remembers that analytics must stay off. Stored locally in your browser and never sent anywhere. | Until you clear your browser storage |
No advertising, profiling, retargeting or social-media tracking cookies are used on this site.
Web fonts
Typefaces (Inter and JetBrains Mono) are loaded from Google Fonts. When your browser requests them, your IP address and browser information are transmitted to Google in order to deliver the font files. Google states that this data is not used to build user profiles. See Google's Privacy Policy.
External links
This page links to LinkedIn, Instagram and X. Those services are only contacted if you click a link, and their own privacy policies apply from that point onwards.
3. Legal basis
For visitors in the EU/EEA and the UK, processing rests on Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR — the legitimate interest in operating a secure website and in understanding, statistically, whether its content is useful. For visitors in Switzerland the equivalent basis under the revised Federal Act on Data Protection (revFADP) applies. You can object to the analytics processing at any time, with no consequence, using the opt-out below.
4. Recipients and international transfers
Analytics data is processed by Google Ireland Limited (Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland) as processor, and may be transferred to Google LLC in the United States. Such transfers are covered by the EU–US Data Privacy Framework, to which Google LLC is certified, and by the EU Standard Contractual Clauses. Hosting data stays with the hosting provider. There are no other recipients.
5. Retention
Analytics data is retained for a maximum of 14 months, after which Google deletes it automatically. Server logs follow the hosting provider's standard retention period. If you email me, that correspondence is kept only as long as needed to deal with your request.
6. Your rights
Under the GDPR and the Swiss revFADP you have the right to:
- request access to the data concerning you;
- request rectification of inaccurate data;
- request erasure or restriction of processing;
- object to processing based on legitimate interest;
- receive your data in a portable format;
- lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority — in Switzerland the FDPIC, in the EU your national data protection authority.
Please note that analytics data is pseudonymous and cannot be traced back to a specific person, which may make it technically impossible to link a request to particular records.
7. How to switch analytics off
Click the button below to disable Google Analytics for this site in this browser. The choice is remembered locally on your device.
You can also block cookies in your browser settings, use private browsing, or install Google's Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on, which works across all websites. Browsers sending a Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control signal are also respected.
8. Changes to this policy
If the site's technical setup changes, this policy will be updated and the date at the top revised. No retroactive changes are made to how already-collected data is used.
